Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, Announced as Guest Speaker at 2019 Breast Cancer Foundation Gala

The Breast Cancer Foundation is proud to announce that Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, will be the guest speaker at this year’s Breast Cancer Foundation Gala, which will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.

“The Foundation is very excited and proud to say that Sarah, Duchess of York, will be here to support us at this year’s gala dinner,” said Janette Fitzgerald, Chief Administrator, Breast Cancer Foundation of Cayman. “She is someone on the world stage, passionate in highlighting the issue of cancers in young people and the global problem of obesity, which has a proven link to breast cancer.”

Sarah, Duchess of York, is a British writer, charity patron, film producer, and television personality. She is the former wife of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II. She has two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who are respectively ninth and tenth in the line of succession to the British throne. In 1990, the Duchess became patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust. Sarah has since opened most of the charity’s various units and is actively involved in supporting that charity.

“As a founding supporter of the American Cancer Society’s Great American Weigh In, an annual campaign aimed at raising awareness of the link between excess weight and cancer, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York works tireless to raise awareness for all types of cancer including breast cancer,” added Kim Lund, co-founder and board member of the Breast Cancer Foundation of Cayman. “We are thrilled to welcome her to Cayman as this year’s guest speaker at the Gala.”

The black tie (actually pink tie), event starts at 6 p.m. with a champagne reception followed by a sumptuous three-course meal, wine included. If you are interested in tickets, they are CI$350 each per person and CI$3,500 for a table of ten.
