THE COMPANY
RE/MAX, which stands for 'real estate maximums', was founded in the 1970's by Dave & Gail Liniger in the United States of America. They developed a unique franchise system that allows real estate agents to maximise their potential by having the security of a franchise and at the same time having the individual freedom to run their own business. Today the RE/MAX network comprises over 7,000 offices with over 100,000 associates in 65 countries.
RE/MAX Cayman Islands is such an independently owned and operated office within the real estate network of RE/MAX International and RE/MAX Caribbean/Central America. The office at 7 Mile Shops on West Bay Road unites 23 real estate professionals and 10 administrative staff under one roof. All our associates and administrative staff are highly experienced and constantly expand their knowledge with ongoing training. Within the office, our associates use the synergy potential. Not only synergies within the office are important but we also work closely with RE/MAX offices all over the world as part of our international referral system.
Locally and internationally we are dedicated to maintain a high degree of visibility which will benefit our highly valued customers and clients as well as our Sales Associates. A comprehensive marketing strategy across all media including print, internet and TV ensure our consistent exposure.
We are well established in our local market as a strong office, capable of producing outstanding results. Referrals from satisfied buyers and sellers are a proof of it as well as the many awards the office has received.

THE HISTORY
Kim Lund first opened the doors to First Realty of Cayman at Regency Court in February 1990. In 1991 Kim and his wife Brenda decided to contact RE/MAX International to start negotiating the purchase of a RE/MAX franchisefor the Cayman Islands. Kim and Brenda decided to go with the RE/MAX brand because of its broad recognition in the North American market as well as the standard of professionalism that the name portrays.
By July 1991 the contracts were signed and Kim and Brenda opened RE/MAX First Realty at 7 Mile Shops. Working in the 2,000 sq. ft. office at that time were Kim and Brenda as Broker/Owners, Edna Ebanks as Sales Associate and a receptionist.
Kim and Brenda's beliefs and philosophies about the business have always been to provide a better service, be more competitive than anyone else and to wait for and hire the best employees versus growing too quickly.
In 1993 Kass Coleman joined the team followed by Scott Roe and James Bovell in 1994. In 1996, the Lunds changed the company name to RE/MAX Cayman Islands and, through everyone's hard work and dedication, RE/MAX grew to Number One in the Caribbean in 1997 which was also the year that Cindy Raymond joined.
After more than a year's struggle with breast cancer, Brenda Lund passed away in August of 1998, but her memory lives on in the RE/MAX office. Her driving force in the comapny is evident in everything synonymous with the name of RE/MAX Cayman Islands.
James who started off as a Sales Associate, became a Broker/Owner in November, 1998. In the same year Paul Aiken started working at RE/MAX. The growth continued with Darolyn Saladino joining in 2000, Michael Joseph and Kerri Kanuga in 2003 and Amanda Brookman.
As 2004 was drawing to a close, the real estate market had begun to turn positive, rebouniing from a slower period of the last few years. The housing and condominium inventory on Grand Cayman was being drawn down, and demand was building. These were the market conditions in early September 2004. All of that changed on the evening of September 11 and morning of September 12, as Hurricane Ivan left its unimaginable mark on the island.
The RE/MAX Cayman Islands office at 7 Mile Shops was severely damaged but good preparation enabled us to declare the office 'open for business' only 3 days after. Everyone from the office put in a tremendous effort to speed up the recovery either on island or from overseas. By January we moved back to our office in 7 Mile Shops which was still under reconstruction but everyone pulled together. The office received a face lift and was extended to 5,000 square feet. The spirit within the RE/MAX team was incredible and inspiring.
2005 the year after the hurricane was a year of growth. 7 new associates joined the RE/MAX team: Neil Williams, Roger Thompson, Donnita Moist, Marc Pothier, Tamara Siemens, Susan Boyko and Dillon Claassens. In 2006 Steve Parsons and our newest members are Oliver DeHart, Bill Baldwin and Douglas Boyd who all joined RE/MAX in 2007.
